Since September 2014 every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 has been able to receive a free meal at school as part of a government scheme. You will need to register using this form.

If you would have qualified for a free meal anyway, we need to know so that the school does not miss out on valuable additional funding called Pupil Premium. This extra money allows us to provide additional resources and equipment that will benefit your child, so it is imperative that we have this information.

All meals are cooked freshly on the premises and a varied and balanced menu runs on a three week cycle.
Parents/Children must choose whether they will have a hot meal or bring a packed lunch for each Half Term.
If you wish to change this the school will require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice before the start of the next half-term otherwise we will assume your child’s choice remains constant.

How to Pay

The price of a school meal is £2.00 and you must pay for at least one week (5 days) in advance on a Monday (or the first day of the school week).
You may pay in advance for any number of meals and when your child is absent from school or on a school visit/trip your account will not be charged. We will remind you when you are running out of credit and need to pay more. Cheques should be made payable to Swaffield Primary School with your child’s name & class on the back. We do not give change when paying in cash but if you require a refund because your child has discontinued taking a hot meal you must request this in writing and a cheque will be issued.
You can also pay by BANK TRANSFER :-
Bank Account Name:-   Swaffield Primary School

Branch :-  NATWEST – Wandsworth Branch

Sort Code:- 60-22-28
Account Number:- 69616884
Reference:-  Please use SM followed by your child’s name (eg SMEmma Smith)

Your Child’s Choice of Meal

From Nursery to Year 2 parents will need to choose their child’s meal for each day – write it, together with their child’s name and class on a piece of paper to be handed into the class in a morning. This is looked after by staff until lunchtime. If you do not make this choice your child will be given the vegetarian choice of the day. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 can choose their meal at the servery.
To ensure that you are getting value for money all children will be encouraged to eat their school meal. They will be required to take at least one portion of vegetables although there is also bread and salad available as an alternative. If you choose to send your child to school with a packed lunch the school staff will assume that you want them to eat what you have provided for them. They will be encouraged to eat it all. If the school staff feel that your child does not have sufficient in their packed lunch OR that they have not eaten very much for lunch a letter will be sent home to inform you.

SCHOOL MILK

Our school has a school milk scheme. By registering your child for our school milk scheme they will receive a 189ml (third of a pint) carton of semi-skimmed milk every day.
How Much Does It Cost?
Thanks to government subsidies, school milk is free for all under-fives and is subsided at around £15 a term for children aged five or older.

What Are The Benefits Of School Milk?
School milk provides your child with essential nutrients such as calcium and protein, for strong, healthy teeth and bones. It is also rehydrating and energy boosting, helping to bridge the long gap between breakfast and lunch so children stay focused.
