Our vision for Computing at Swaffield is to ensure equal opportunity and access to facilities for each and every child. We aim to enable learning and enjoyment through the provision of high quality teaching and resources.

Great Resources

Computing is used widely to enhance lessons and provide a range of information to children in new and exciting ways. Throughout the school children use a variety of web based and school bought software to enhance their computing skills and learning.

Swaffield is an incredibly well resourced school in terms of computing equipment. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and at least two desktop computers. We have a wireless network throughout the school and this enables us to use mobile trolleys, on the ground and first floor, with laptops for ‘in-class’ teaching of Computing.

We also have 16 iPads and 20 iPodTouches that are available to all classes so that Computing could be used across the curriculum in all learning areas.  Other resources that we have are hand held videos, Probot cars and microscopes which develops a variety of skills and enhances the learning experience.

A high priority for us is safeguarding children; we have produced a leaflet to provide advice and guidance on the internet and online safety for parents. Online Safety is taught each year as part of our new Computing scheme. We also have an E-safety Zone on this website to help parents and children be safe online.

We are continually maintaining and updating our resources and are part of a broader network across Wandsworth that provides specialist training and teaching for staff and children alike. Class teachers and children have access to digital cameras and videos and are encouraged to use them freely to record their learning experiences.

A new scheme of work and child-led self-assessment have both been implemented; this has already begun to raise attainment and skills across the whole school.
